The mini skirt
Popularised during the 1960s through a youth culture movement, the mini skirt resurged during the late 90s and early 2000 and is back again in 2020. It is not surprising to see the skirt be repopulaised after the influence of the 60s and 90s in many fashion weeks during SS21 and looking ahead to FW21.
The barely-there womenswear trend has also been a huge champion for the mini skirt, taking it one step further by including sheer fabric for layering and cut-out work allowing more skin to be shown. The mini skirt is one of the more wearable pieces of this trend and is most likely to be adapted first by your typical consumers.
Heuritech have been assessing how the mini skirt is trending on social media and has predicted both Europe and the US will see an increase of its presence by around 3% to 4%. They have predicated the mini skirt as a safe bet with a massive magnitude for designers due to its appeal to all three consumer segments (Mainstream, Trendy and Edgy).
